Dana Lim Silicone Remover 911 removes cured and uncured silicone sealant from most materials. Silicone cleaner is also suitable for removing small areas with mold on silicone sealant.
Can be used on wood (treated and untreated), brickwork, plasterboard, concrete, glass, enamel, porcelain, metals (e.g. mast, brass, zinc, galvanized steel and aluminium), synthetic materials (e.g. acrylic, polycarbonate, fiberglass and PVC). When using on other surfaces, a test must be carried out first.
Instructions for use:
• Preparation: surfaces must be completely dry and degreased. Due to the risk of discoloration or dissolution of adjacent materials, a compatibility test is always recommended. This is especially important on plastic and painted/varnished surfaces.
• Application: remover is applied up to approximately 5 mm on the silicone sealant to be removed.
• Waiting time: after 3 - 12 hours the silicone dissolves and can be removed with a scraper. Surface is washed with water and wiped with a dry cloth. Time depends on the surface, so testing is always necessary to determine the necessary waiting time. If silicone is not completely removed the first time, the process is repeated.
This time can be considered indicative, but depends on the surface and the type of silicone:
• 1 mm seal: max. 5 hours.
• 2 mm seal: approx. 5-7 hours.
• 5 mm seal: approx. 12 hours.
If the sealant is thicker than approximately 5 mm, it is recommended to remove it mechanically, and then remove the residue with Silicone Remover 911. In other cases, the silicone remover must be applied several times.
